About Soria
- The City of Soria. At an altitude
of 1,056 m Soria stands on the bank of the River
Duero, at a distance of 266 km from Madrid from
which it can be reached by road, train or bus.
Soria is a small and peaceful city that has all
the charm of tranquility. Both the city itself
and the towns and villages of Soria are full of
streets charged with history going back to medieval
times and superb Romanesque monuments. To the
North of Soria loom the often snow-capped Picos
de Urbión. Beneath them lies the Laguna Negra.
To the east stands the Moncayo, the culminating
point of the province, on the border with Zaragoza.
